Setting information:

• Shelpey Alley is a big city set in a non-geographical location in the northeastern United States. Summers are usually pretty hot; around 95 degrees, with ups and downs. Any severe storm weather is most likely to occur at the end of summer, although there can definitely be weather patterns at other times during the year. Fall is beautiful weather; just warm enough, with a nice crisp breeze. Winter usually gets snow, although the amount of snowfall varies with the year; the average might be somewhere around a foot and a half per year. Spring is pretty, with flowers and trees blooming after the colder weather. In your roleplay, you can determine which season it is. There is no site-wide weather.
  
• Threads use liquid-time, meaning your character can be in multiple threads at the same time.
  

Shape shifting Information:

• Shapeshifters in Shelpey Alley only have one Shifted form.
  
• Every Shapeshifter has a trademark tattoo-like marking somewhere on their body. Usually the markings are in a place where they can't be seen in general. The tattoo looks like THIS and can come in any color. Picture is average size. The tattoo doesn't appear in animal form. The Shifter tattoo appears when a person first shifts into their animal form (to avoid the situation where babies are being born with inexplicable tattoos.)
  
• A Shapeshifter can only remain in their animal form for a maximum of 12 hours at a time.
  

  If they are still in their animal form at the time that 12 hours is up, they are locked in that form forever. They will be able to shift back to human form for a maximum of 12 hours at a time, but at the end of 12 hours, they shift back, regardless of whether they want to or not. (It's as if their two forms 'switch' places, and the animal form is now their normal form.) This can't happen twice; ie., a shapeshifter can't get stuck in their other form twice and go back to being 'normal.'
  
  If a Shapeshifter falls unconscious while in animal form, they may or may not turn back to their human form. However, if they are unconscious while in animal form at the time that 12 hours expires, their bodies will naturally change back.

  
  
• If a Shapeshifter is extremely weak, they might accidentally shift into animal form, and then pass out.
  
• If a Shapeshifter is injured while in Shifted form, the injuries will remain once they are human again.
  
• Shifters in animal form can not talk to Shifters in human form. There is no intercommunication between the two. If a shifter in animal form wants to communicate with a shifter in human form, they can try to speak through body language and actions. Shifters in animal form CAN understand humans, since they hear the words in English and know what they mean.
